Tiny Quilts & Adaptations w/ Ali Homan
quilting diary from a new moms artistic journey (GUEST COLUMN)

Now that I don't have much time to sew I find that when I do I experience s p a c i o u s n e s s and child-like excitement, more than when I was sewing daily. It's a special occasion now. So the feeling of not knowing what I'm making when I start to make it is extra freeing and sweet. The fabric sings as I marry the scraps to each other. Time seems to slow down as I measure it in stitches. I am grateful.
Even though I'm not sewing much I still feel like I'm clarifying my thoughts and refining my understandings of this world, strengthening the habits that are as important as the things I make. Always reaching for beauty so that there is beauty to bring to the table. Finding meaning in joy.

Haven't been sewing much because I'm growing this baby... iykyk... But I made this little quilt for a friend who worked very hard to accomplish a huge life goal. I said a little blessing into it and am sending it to her. ✨✨✨

The beginnings of the quilt I'm making to help me through labor and birth. 😮
I'm making a quilt with guiding principles that I can look to when I'm far away in pain. Something that can comfort me and also be clenched and twisted to absorb the impact of my primal, laboring body.
